About Hydrogen Park Murray Valley

Hydrogen Park Murray Valley (HyP Murray Valley) is the next step in our renewable gas journey, building on Hydrogen Park South Australia (HyP SA) and our plans for Hydrogen Park Gladstone (HyP Gladstone).

Developed by Australian Gas Networks, HyP Murray Valley is a $65.46m project with capital and operational funding of $36.1 million from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency, $12.315 million capital funding from the Victorian Government and additional backing from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.

Located alongside North East Water’s West Wodonga Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWWTP), the 10MW electrolyser will use water and renewable electricity from the grid to produce renewable hydrogen.

The renewable hydrogen will be blended with natural gas, at volumes of up to 10% for supply into the existing gas distribution networks across Albury and Wodonga (from Jindera to Tangambalanga), delivering a lower emissions blended gas to more than 40,000 business and residential connections. About 20 industrial gas users will also receive the renewable gas blend.

Ideally located on the Hume Highway, HyP Murray Valley is well positioned to supply any future renewable hydrogen refueling network along Australia’s most significant transport route.

In addition, we are working with North East Water to investigate opportunities to provide oxygen to the wastewater treatment process, and use reclaimed water in the future.

The interconnected nature of the project with the WWWTP and the large market reach makes HyP Murray Valley a first for Australia and a project of global significance.

Production from the facility and delivery to customers is expected to commence in 2025.
