A pathway to a renewable energy future
Hydrogen Park Gladstone (HyP Gladstone) continues AGIG’s hydrogen leadership by extending our renewable gas footprint into Queensland.
About Hydrogen Park Gladstone
Hydrogen Park Gladstone (HyP Gladstone) is a small demonstration facility designed to produce renewable hydrogen and to start to decarbonise gas supply in Gladstone.
Gladstone will be the first city in Australia where the entire gas distribution network will supply customers with a blend of up to 10% (by volume) of renewable hydrogen gas.
There are about 700 customers connected to this network who will be able to benefit from the renewable gas blend.
HyP Gladstone is an important step in the development of a sustainable renewable hydrogen economy as supported by the Queensland Hydrogen Industry Strategy 2019-2024.
Here, we will use water and renewable electricity sourced from the grid and matched with Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGC’s), to produce renewable hydrogen.
The renewable hydrogen will be blended with natural gas at volumes of up to 10% and supplied to local industry, homes and businesses via the existing AGN gas distribution network.
Construction started in October 2023 and started delivering blended renewable gas to customers in 2024.

Hydrogen Park Gladstone is a new facility, blending an up to 10% by volume hydrogen blend to the existing gas network.
We are currently exploring the option to provide interested parties tours of the facility to educate the community about hydrogen, who we are and what we do.
As we finalise plans for tours of the facility we will be in touch with timeframes on when we can start delivering these.
